The Golden Bin initiative has been instigated by the District Council to encourage people to throw their litter in the litter bins rather than on our streets, or to reward responsible citizens that always dispose of their litter in the appropriate manner. Over the summer, the District Council will be choosing bins in various locations in the district and monitor them from a discreet distance. When they witness someone using the litter bins, they will be rewarded with a cash (or store) voucher. The vouchers are currently being sponsored by our litter bin manufacturer - Swintex - but the Council is actively looking for further sponsorship for this scheme to continue. Perhaps local traders would be interested in sponsoring a Witham Golden Bin project?
