Traffic problems at industrial estate junction? - 8/2/07
Members of Witham Chamber of Commerce and Witham Industrial Watch have been increasingly concerned about the congestion at the junction with Colchester Road; as the traffic comes from the A12 trying to reach the three industrial estates the signage is not helpful and the cross over points too short. The increase in the size of lorries that almost straddle one of the junctions and the increase in volume of traffic have exasperated the situation.
We understand that Essex County Council have implemented a “substantial improvement scheme at the Colchester Road junction with Eastways/Motts Lane costing £500,000,” due to commence in the next few weeks. Traffic management details are being finalised and details will be sent to local Members, Witham Town Council, affected businesses etc. The Chamber is grateful for Cllr R Bass, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transportation for his advice.
