Nick Clarke will be missed - 30/11/2006

On the 1st April 2005 Nick Clarke visited Witham to chair the BBC Radio 4 “Any Questions?” programme that was hosted by Witham Chamber of Commerce.  Everyone who worked with him on that programme appreciated his calm professionalism as he encouraged the less experienced speakers and allowed the “wordsmiths” to express their views without dominating the programme. 

On an evening when everyone was awaiting news of the final hours in the life of the last Pope, Nick was aware that the timing and the tone of the programme could change at any minute, he remained calm and courteous.

We were very sorry to hear of his death last week after his fight to overcome cancer.  His firm, yet gentle, voice will be missed.
