Just a quick update from Witham Chamber of Commerce

A lively debate on recycling industrial waste and saving energy took place at the October meeting of Witham Chamber of Commerce when Peter Chisnall of B.D.C. and Abe & Neil Couton of Green Cartridges attended the meeting. Concern was expressed that business rates still do not include the cost of waste collection, which is an additional charge.   With the increasing costs of energy members were encouraged to review their own shops, offices and factories to consider ways of reducing their energy bills and save themselves some money e.g. switching off computers and tvs, installing sensitive lighting systems so that only the parts of the building being occupied would be lit and looking at was of using recycled paper and cartridges.

Annie Northfield, organiser of Witham in Bloom was congratulated on making Witham look great throughout the summer, the Chamber of Commerce is one of the many organises who support the scheme which encourages individuals, schools and businesses to take a pride in the town.

Witham Chamber are enthusiastic supporters of the International Puppet Festival that is held in Witham, a lively family day filled with excellent acts from the UK and overseas.  Congratulations to Alison Dando (BDC), Wendy Harlow (Grove Shopping Centre) and Witham Town Council for bringing the event to Witham, it attracts a huge number of families and brings new people into the town.
