“The Witham International Puppet Festival attracted hundreds of children and their parents to the town centre on Saturday. The most spectacular 21st century “puppets” were two huge dinosaurs and their cloaked witch-like mentor who strode through the shopping centres on stilts; inside the costumes were three attractive performers from Holland. Titan, the robot was loved and feared by adults and children with the crowds following him around the town. Many other acts: tiny puppet shows, magic displays and music and dance moved round the town during the 6 hours of performances
The festival gives a great “feel good” factor for the town and brings people into Witham who we hope will return to use the local shops and enjoy the range of wine bars, pubs and restaurants.
The Chamber would like to thank BDC, Witham Town Council, fellow sponsors and in particular Wendy Harlow, The Manager of the Grove Shopping Centre for all their work in making the Puppet Festival such a success.”
