March 2006 Update from your Chairman 27/2/2006
Good food, advice from a helpful speaker and some interesting guests resulted in another successful lunch meeting for Witham Chamber of Commerce in February. Sue Nunn, the manager of the Braintree College's Witham Technology Centre gave us an insight to the range of IT courses and training programmes that were available to local businesses. Sue reassured members that although the Tech would be moving into smaller premises this year, companies would receive the same level of service and there could be more opportunities to take training out of the classroom to people's places of work.
On the 22nd March we will be dealing with an issue that all of us should have prepared for - but perhaps some of us still have our heads in the sand - IT Disaster Recovery (and Prevention) plus an update on HR legislation. The April meeting is Budget and Business.
The Chamber has made representation to the BDC concerning parking facilities in Witham and to the Police concerning the loss of the Witham Crime Reduction Officer (who instigated the formation of Witham Industrial Watch), this comes at a time when the population in Witham is increasing with the addition of over 1100 new units of housing.
