The Official Website for the Witham & District Chamber of Commerce & Industry

2005 REVIEW

Witham Chamber supports major town events that bring visitors and shoppers into the town.  We are keen to increase membership of the Chamber so that we can provide a better service to our members and we can make a contribution to encouraging business in the town.

Witham in Bloom

Sally Carpenter presenting Kim Man of
Lian’s Restaurant with his Witham in Bloom
Award.  The Chamber supports the work of

Witham in Bloom and congratulates Annie

Northfield for providing so much colour in
the town.

Industrial Watch

The chairman was one of the founding members of the Industrial Watch.  Businesses and the Police are working together to improve security and deter criminal activities on the industrial estates.  Everything that is suspicious should be reported to the police so that it can be logged, monitored and action taken.

Braintree Business Council

Sally Carpenter and Ian Cass are members of the Braintree Business Council.  This is a useful forum that identifies new and potential business activities in the area e.g. the opportunities arising from the development of the new race track at Great Leighs.

Braintree Economic Development Council

The Chamber is represented at the BEDC where the strategic implications of developments in the district are considered: e.g. extension and route of the A120, changes in funding for adult learning; development of Stansted.

Other activities:
Members of the Chamber attend the Witham Strategy Group, the Antisocial Behaviour Group & Town Decorations Committee.

Wendy Harlow, manager of the Grove Shopping Centre, was guest speaker at the Lions Club Annual Dinner. Wendy makes a tremendous contribution to the town centre’s activities encouraging more shoppers to visit Witham.  The Lions Club support for the elderly at Christmas

We attended the Launch of Essex Business Library, The Civic Service, Mayor’s summer charity event, the Puppet Festival with the magnificent “Robot” , Witham in Bloom’s presentations, Light up a Light, Reindeer  Parade and the Dickensian Market.

Chamber lunch meetings are an opportunity to network, enjoy good food and hear a range of speakers: BAA Stansted, local M.P., Crime & Prosecutions, The Budget and local issues – we even had an English breakfast beside the lake at Benton Hall.

The bright new web site created by Brian Smith gives members an opportunity to promote their business on the site – for your free page or to advertise contact: briansmith@accountsanditsolutions.co.uk

Voice of Business:  the press and the local authorities look for feedback and contributions from the Chamber rather than individual business.  Witham Chamber is interested in your views and comments – please let us know your comments.

Can we come and meet you please?  pr@clientact.co.uk
