We had a great start to the year when Witham
Chamber invited BBC Radio 4’s Any
Questions to broadcast live from the Public Hall. Iain Duncan Smith MP, Tony Benn MP, Sally Zlotowitz (chairman of the Young Greens), Navid Akhtar (documentary maker) and chairman Nick Clarke provided a entertaining evening and raised awareness of Witham across the country. Overseas listeners picked up the broadcast via the internet.
Despite difficult times for retailers in the UK, new retailers are coming to Witham. Congratulations to: F Byford & Son on their 50th anniversary and to Personalise who will be celebrating their first year in Witham in 2006. At least three new quality food outlets opened this year: Azzurro a smart Italian restaurant, Subway serving quick bites and snacks and the Gourmet Chinese takeaway.
The Chamber’s connection with the industrial areas is mentioned in the notes on Industrial Watch
We wish you all a happy Christmas and a prosperous year in 2006
