A letter from Fiona Ward Community Fundraising Manager For Farleigh Hospice - 19/10/2005

Dear Friends,

Firstly, on behalf of Debbie de Boltz and myself I would like to thank you all for making us welcome at the Witham Town Chamber of Commerce meeting today and for taking the time to hear about Farleigh Hospice and what we do.

Both Debbie and I were very pleased at the interest shown in our Mayoral events that we are planning.  We feel it very important that we are recognised more in the local area.  There are still many people who think of Farleigh Hospice as purely Chelmsford and are not aware that we have a day-care centre in Braintree and one in Maldon and that we care for people from within the mid Essex area, a population of over 340,000!  In fact, over one third of our patients come from the Braintree District area so it is important that you realise that by supporting Farleigh Hospice you are actually supporting your local community.

There were several members not present today so I enclose some information which I hope you will find of interest.  As the Mayor’s Charity we are organising The Mayor of Witham’s Dickensian Market on 11th December in the Grove Centre and Witham-in-Bloom are supporting us in organising this; we will be sharing the money raised from our Grand Dickensian One Day Raffle for which we expect some wonderful prizes.  All stall holders will be dressing in Victorian costume and I believe the local shops are joining in too.   We are very keen to get local companies to sponsor some of the stalls.  In return we will display the sponsors name on the stall as well as on a thank-you poster.  Booking/sponsor forms are available from Wendy Harlow at the Grove Centre Offices.

You might also be interested in our Mayor of Witham’s ‘Razzle Dazzle’ Ball at the Ramada, Rivenhall on Friday March 24th, 2006 .  Tickets will be £40 each which will include welcome drinks and a sumptuous three course meal, entertainment, auction, raffle, dancing and lots of fun.  This is an occasion for us all to dress up in our ‘posh frocks’ and dinner jackets!

Finally, I would like to ask you if you would be kind enough to display some posters and fliers for the above events around your workplace.  The success is only as good as the footfall so we want to get lots of people there.  Once again, may I thank you for your support and kindness.

Sincerely,

Fiona C. Ward
